Bird, a chain of UK based restaurants, approached Tate and Morgan’s commercial renovations department and asked them to undertake a restaurant conversion for a newly acquired site in Brixton, London.

Change of use –  a shop to restaurant conversion

The restaurant chain had acquired a retail site that they wanted to refurbish as a late-night restaurant. After the change of use planning permission was approved, Tate and Morgan’s commercial building team began work on a full commercial refurbishment of the property.

As the building had been a shop, a complete redesign of the shop front was necessary. The next stage was supply and installation of a new shop front including a door and illuminated signage, in keeping with the company’s brand.

Internal refurbishment to the restaurant

The list of internal refurbishment works to carry out was quite long, including the following

  1. Construction of new studwork partition walls
  2. New commercial kitchen build including a feature pass and full hygienic finishes installed to newly constructed walls, ceiling and floor
  3. Installation of new servery counters
  4. Design, supply and installation of new bespoke banquette seating
  5. New internal FD30 fire doors throughout
  6. Construction of new toilets including all sanitary ware and hand driers (supplied & fitted)
  7. Electrical and plumbing works including providing safety certificates
  8. Emergency lighting supplied, wired and installed throughout
  9. Our commercial team of builders also designed and installed a new lighting scheme along with fire and security alarms plus all audio and visual equipment.
